This year, November 29th is the beginning of Advent–a word drawn from the Latin for “anticipation” or “coming,” with reference to Jesus. Traditionally, Advent is a time for us to prepare our hearts and minds to both celebrate the birth of Jesus and to ready ourselves for his return.

This Advent season we will be considering the interface between the themes of Advent and popular Christmas Films. Last year we polled our congregation to determine people’s favorite (family friendly) Christmas movies.

Each Friday in Advent, we’ll have the opportunity to gather over Zoom to watch a Christmas movie together at 6:30pm. The zoom link will be included in the LSCC Update email each week.

Friday Film Schedule:
Friday, November 27 at 6:30pm—The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
Friday, December 4 at 6:30pm—It’s A Wonderful Life
Friday, December 11 at 6:30pm—Elf
Friday, December 18 at 6:30pm—A Muppet’s Christmas Carol

Films have a way of forming the way we think and how we feel about the world around us. On Sundays, Pastor Chris will explore the biblical themes under-girding each film, and offer some critique if necessary.

Join us for worship this Advent!
Sunday, November 29—The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
Sunday, December 6—It’s A Wonderful Life
Sunday, December 13—Elf
Sunday, December 20—A Muppet’s Christmas Carol
*Thursday, December 24–Christmas Eve Candlelight Service from 7-8pm (Via Zoom)
Christmas Sunday, December 27–A Charlie Brown Christmas

Lighthouse Mission Gifts

This Christmas Season we get to partner again with the Lighthouse Mission to provide gifts for the guests in their recovery programs! If you want to be a part of this you can look for the online sign-up starting Sunday, November 22 and plan to return the gifts to Elizabeth at the LSCC parking Lot on Sunday afternoon, December 13 from 2-3pm.

For those who would like to be reimbursed, you can email a picture of your receipt to our Treasurer, Cory Hoeger.

*If that time doesn’t work for you to drop off gifts, please contact Elizabeth Holland to find another time/place.

Children’s Church Zoom Calls

This Sunday at 4pm is the Larch Group Zoom! I hope you are getting a good chuckle from listening to our sweet and wonderful discussions. I especially love hearing their prayer requests each week. They are so thoughtful, in tune with their communities, and compassionate! My heart rejoices with them and hurts as well, I can only imagine how our Father in Heaven feels!

4pm Sundays:

November 22nd: Doug Fir (Kindergarten)

Jen will be emailing the parents of the group Sunday morning with the Zoom invite.

It’s not too late to join us as we engage in a 10-week course called Re-Frame, by Regent College!

We will be continuing to connect at 5pm Sundays via Zoom each Sunday, to all gather at one place at one time to participate in worship together.

If you want to join our congregation on Sunday but haven’t been receiving our Sunday emails, please register here!

If you invite someone to the Live@5 service, please inform Elizabeth of their name so the Zoom Master knows to expect them.
