This Friday, December 11, we’ll be watching the third film in our Advent series, Elf.
Directed by John Favreau and starring Will Ferrell, Elf was released in 2003 but has already become a contemporary classic by being one of the most watched Christmas movies each year.
Elf is a quirky, awkward, silly, and joyful film that is easy to laugh along with. Behind the goofiness, though, this film addresses some of our deepest human longings such as joy, belonging, and finding true family.
Elf is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 37 minutes.
We will have a brief intermission half way through the film and a chance to win some door prizes.
The zoom link will be in the LSCC Update email each week. Please contact us if you want to be added to that email list.
We hope to see you on Friday evening at 6:30!
Friday Film Schedule:
Friday, December 11 at 6:30pm—Elf
Friday, December 18 at 6:30pm—A Muppet’s Christmas Carol
Films have a way of forming the way we think and how we feel about the world around us. On Sundays, Pastor Chris will explore the biblical themes under-girding each film, and offer some critique if necessary.
Join us for worship this Advent!

Baby Oliver Majors was born Thanksgiving!
You can find the link in the weekly LSCC Update email or contact us to bring his family a homemade frozen meal – to have meal options for the crazy days and to cook off meals as needed. 🙂 A cooler will be set up on the porch for contactless deliveries. Rob, Michele and the boys don’t have any food allergies, and enjoy both meaty and vegetarian meals. No need to be kid-friendly as Ellis eats everything and Bennen won’t be pleased with any dinner offering.
Janna Uffleman has been caring for her mother in Seattle on Mondays through Wednesdays as she receives radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy for breast cancer. So let’s care for the Uffelmans with the gift of one less meal to make! Check your weekly LSCC Update email for the link, or contact us to take them a freezer meal.
Cold Weather Shelter Volunteer Opportunities
As winter approaches and the pandemic continues to rage, housing the growing number of our homeless neighbors may be more difficult than ever. Thankfully, the church is helping to address this need in our community!
Christ the King church and the Lighthouse Mission are teaming up to provide a cold weather shelter at the Drop-in Center on Holly St. from December 1 through February 28th. Christ the King will be administrating the volunteer efforts, inviting all of our city and county churches to get involved as able.
If you would like to sign up to volunteer or get more information about volunteering, you may do so HERE.
We will be continuing to connect at 5pm Sundays via Zoom each Sunday, to all gather at one place at one time to participate in worship together.
If you want to join our congregation on Sunday but haven’t been receiving our Sunday emails, please register here!
