LSCC created our own four-year-rhythm where each year we set aside a week or so of time come together as an intergenerational community for retreat, local service project, retreat again, and cross-cultural experience. Learn more about our four year cycle here.

In 2025 we have the opportunity to travel together to the Mazahua region of Mexico to learn from others, to grow in empathy and perspective of God’s amazing kingdom. We also will serve alongside and support the work of churches and ministries already operating there, with the goal of learning from, encouraging, and sharing what we have with others.

FAQs:

Why should I consider participating?

  1. To be stretched out of our comfort zone that we might gain fresh perspective on the broader work of Jesus and his church in other places and cultures
  2. To participate in Jesus’ call to go and make disciples of all nations
  3. To make a sacrifice of time and finances in order to bless others and grow in generosity
  4. To strengthen intergenerational relationships within LSCC  as we labor together, support each other, worship together with the worldwide church, and spend extended time together
  5. To gain a greater appreciation for God’s people across the border particularly in this time of political and social polarization and fear of foreigners
  6. These shared experiences outside of our everyday lives, knit our community closer together!

When will it be?
The dates for the trip are July 15-23rd, 2025.

What will we be doing in Mexico?
The exact projects have not yet been finalized, but no matter your interest or abilities we will have a project you can do. Some examples are construction, fitting people for wheel chairs, music ministry, helping with a soccer camp, volunteering with VBS type ministry, teaching Bible classes, cooking/cultural exchange, helping with kids, making music, neighborhood outreach, and more.

Who can go on the trip?
This trip is intended for the Lettered Streets Covenant Church family, of any age, partners or not.

I am unable to go, but how can I be a part of this?
Please pray for our team, for the churches and ministries we get to partner with in Mexico, and for the planning process. We also would love your help leading up to and on February 8 to make our fundraiser a success! You can fill out this form to let us know how you would most enjoy helping with the fundraiser.

How much will it cost?
We ask you to pay a $101 deposit per household at registration. The rest of the cost can be paid in a lump sum in January, or by a payment plan January through May.

All participants are expected to help with our fundraiser event on February 8, 2025, which we hope will lessen the financial burden for everyone. In 2019, a similar fundraiser raised enough money to reduce the cost by $400 each for all 50 people.

We expect the trip will cost $1250 per person, before fundraising. This number includes housing, transportation, and materials costs for our projects there.

How do I pay for the trip?
You may pay through our online giving portal (please select the Mexico Trip payment option), or by check made out to Lettered Streets Covenant Church with “Mexico” written at the bottom. Please hand any checks to Elizabeth Holland, or place them in her LSCC mailbox to ensure this money is counted toward the Mexico trip and not as a general tithe.

How to I sign up?
Register below before January 12, 2025!

Do I have to fly with the group?
Traveling with the group is part of the experience and is highly encouraged.

If you choose not to fly with the group we cannot guarantee ground transportation in the US or Mexico to and from the airport. Additionally, if you choose to fly on your own, the cost will be reduced from $1250 to $750 per person.

What can I expect this trip to be like?
Check out this video from when LSCC took a similar trip to the same Mission Mazahua in 2019!

What else can I do to prepare?

Once our group is formed after the close of registration, we will meet (roughly) monthly for planning, prayer, and to learn some important information about language and culture.

Duolingo is a great free tool to learn the language in order to feel more comfortable with the language of the locals. It is a free app that you can use on either an android style phone or an iPhone. You can also use it on the computer here.
