As disciples of Jesus, our most important source for teaching, reproof, correction, training in righteousness, and equipping for living out the gospel, is scripture. But let’s face it, scripture is set in a foreign land, translated from ancient languages, assumes a different cultural backdrop, and presumes some basic historical knowledge of the ancient world. How do we begin to understand it!?
Starting in February, 2025, pastor Chris will be facilitating an 8-week course on The New Testament You Never Knew: Exploring the Context, Purpose, and Meaning of the Story of God.
This course has a video component as well as a study guide, created in tandem by New Testament scholar, N.T. Wright, and former athiest-turned-follower-of-Jesus-turned-New-Testament-scholar, Michael Bird.
This course is accessible for beginners to biblical studies and yet has enough depth to encourage your growth if you have been reading scripture for many years.
Each evening will consist of a light meal, a short video lesson, and then time for discussion around tables. Our hope is that we’ll not only learn more about scripture but we’ll encounter Jesus and grow in fellowship with one another as well.
